The Blank Slate, and other reviews
Here’s a round-up of recent book reviews in the library, headed by my shock recent favourite. Following from my ‘Violence, Visions & Evolution’ talk at Metageum yesterday, I’ll be publishing something more extensive about Pinker and Lawrence Keeley soon. But, my criticisms aside, The Blank Slate is a surprisingly good read.
Anyway, here’s the latest reviews:
- The Blank Slate: The Modern Denial of Human Nature by Steven Pinker
- Juniper Fuse: Upper Paleolithic Imagination and the Construction of the Underworld by Clayton Eshleman
- World Turned Inside Out: Henry Corbin and Islamic Mysticism by Tom Cheetham
- The Myth of the Noble Savage by Ter Ellingson
- Breaking the Spell: Religion as a Natural Phenomenon by Daniel C. Dennett
- Pacing the Void: T’Ang Approaches to the Stars by Edward Schafer
- Archetypal Psychologies: Reflections in Honor of James Hillman by Stanton Marlan (ed.)
- The Growth Illusion by Richard Douthwaite
- Welcome to Mars: Fantasies of Science in the American Century, 1947-1959 by Ken Hollings
