The Devil & the Goddess
Meditations on Blood, Serpents & Androgyny

This unique study, at once scholarly and personal, erudite and ecstatic, looks at the possible origins of Satan in Christianity’s demonisation of archaic goddesses. Along the way there are in-depth speculations on menstruation and the origins of culture, the kundalini experience, androgynous deities and sexuality, blood sacrifice, and ritual scarification. All are underlined by an attempt to penetrate beyond the damaging dualisms we have inherited from Christian theology; especially the false division of life into body and soul, flesh and spirit.
