Time’s Arrow, Time’s Cycle
Review
This is a brilliant narrative exploring the unveiling of the true depth of the Earth’s past by pioneers Thomas Burnet, James Hutton and Charles Lyell. It reveals a much richer and more complex story than we often project backwards from our current time, where social pressures have simplified the “debate” about the nature of origins to an Evolution vs. Creationism puppet show. Gould is a gripping writer, steeped in modern evolutionary theory yet constantly questioning.
